Necat Memisoglu was born in Amasya, Turkey. At the age of three he moved to Canada where he grew up, mostly in Montreal, Quebec.

 

After doing health sciences at Dawson College (Montreal), he studied medicine at the University of Istanbul in Turkey. He then did an internship, residency training, and subspeciality at McGill University, University of Alberta, and Universite de Montreal, respectively.

 

He is a practicing gastroenterologist/hepatologist in Bathurst, New Brunswick (Canada). He also spends part of the year in Istanbul, Turkey, where he is involved in teaching. He is married and has two children.
